The Stockyard Institute often employs the use of print media and original written content when creating art and engaging community members, in particular neighborhood youth. During its many years in service, the Stockyard Institute has published a variety of zines and other booklets both as standalone projects and to supplement more involved exhibitions. Among these many zines include:
Combat, which was published to highlight the work of the students who collaborated on Gang-Proof Suit; and the Austin neighborhood's
Black Fish Fruit, which was conceptualized as a type of community news outlet.
