2007/2017- Hyde Park Art Center
2007’s Pedagogical Factory served as the first of many of Hyde Park Art Center’s Stockyard Institute residencies. This two-month experimental project combined weekly programming, conversation, workshops, exhibits, archival displays, and many other activities. The project explored the practices of Chicagoland and examined alternative strategies of design and infrastructure, as well as models of informal education.
To mark the tenth anniversary of Pedagogical Factory, the Hyde Park Art Center hosted the Stockyard Institute’s 2017 project PUBLIC SCHOOL. This installation featured a variety of thought-provoking pieces and found objects, including a fort, tower, piano, and a decommissioned school bus-turned-recording studio. The project sought to ask: Where is learning taking place in the city, and who determines what students should learn?
