College of Education > Student Resources > Student Teaching > Waivers/Exemptions Under a Public Health Emergency
As more and more Illinois residents are being vaccinated and we are seeing metrics improve, we have begun to look towards a return to “normal”. ISBE has shared some clarification as to the Part 25 rules for content test submission and edTPA exemptions during a public health emergency including dates when the content test and edTPA would be needed depending on when the governor may choose to lift the disaster declaration or allow it to expire.
During a public health emergency, the content test is still a requirement; however, during the public health emergency, it is a requirement for issuance of the PEL rather than for entry to student teaching.
During a public health emergency, edTPA is waived as a requirement for licensure.
Of course, your advisors and the Office of Field Experience and Student Teaching will also be updating you with the latest information as we are made aware.
