Preparing and applying for the student teaching experience is a multi-step process that begins over a year before you plan to student teach. It is important that you are familiar with the process and the deadlines for each step so that you are not delayed in completing your degree.
All student teaching candidates, undergraduate and graduate, must attend a mandatory informational meeting before completing the initial application to student teach. This meeting will be offered at the Lincoln Park Campus. Upcoming meeting dates
Completed documents should be turned in to COE 223 ON or BEFORE the deadline. Please see Important Dates below for specific deadlines pertaining to the term in which you plan to student teach.
Two 'school choices' on EdTrack may be entered. If both school choices have been denied, the Office of Field Experiences and Student Teaching will place the candidate in an appropriate school.
Note: Completing the Student Teaching Application does not guarantee approval for student teaching. To be admitted to student teaching, students must receive final approval from the Student Teaching Committee.
Note: After grades are posted from the quarter prior to student teaching, student teacher candidates will be notified only if they have NOT successfully completed all requirements for student teaching (Stages I, II, and III).
Students who are denied student teaching approval by the Student Teaching Committee have the right to an appeal. Information on the appeals process can be found in the Student Handbook.
