Rebecca E. Michel


Rebecca Michel, LCPC, is an Associate Professor in the Counseling Program. Michel strives to help individuals discover and develop the best version of themselves through her research, teaching, and service.

Her research explores how cultural, relational, educational, and career factors impact identity, well-being, and life satisfaction. She has published a number of articles, books, and book chapters and regularly presents at national and international conferences. She is committed to community engagement and incorporates service learning into many of her courses. In 2016, she was named the Illinois Counselor Educator of the Year.

Projects
In 2017, Michel co-founded Lift as you Climb, with Joby Gardner and Thomas Noel. Lift as you Climb is a a leadership and social justice training initiative housed within the College of Education.
