About

The programs within the Department of Teacher Education, Kinesiology, and Educational Studies center on DePaul's commitment to excellence in teaching in today's diverse society. Each course of study includes an investigation of significant educational issues, an inquiry into effective teaching practices, and the use of technology in teaching and learning. We engage our students to become critical thinkers.

One of our greatest strengths is our deep and broad partnership with schools in the Chicago region. In our programs, students gain an exceptional amount of practical, hands-on experience. Our instruction methods are personal; class sizes are small and are taught by faculty who are experienced teachers.

"Our students learn to honor multiple perspectives. At DePaul, teaching means immersion in varied educational settings. Our graduates are reflective: They think about why they're doing what they're doing. They don't just follow a programmed approach. They understand that different people learn in different ways and think in different ways. That's a realistic understanding of what it means to be a teacher."
