Empower diverse students through movement
Fuel your passion for inspiring young learners to live well through physical activity with a master’s degree in Physical Education (MEd - PE). In this unique program–the only one in Chicago–you'll immerse yourself in a curriculum that blends online and in-person classes.
Our program goes beyond traditional physical education, focusing on developing educators who are knowledgeable, empathetic and inspiring. You'll work closely with expert teachers, gaining hands-on experience in diverse school environments, and the knowledge and skills to positively impact students' lives through physical activity. Furthermore, our strong connection with Chicago Public Schools (CPS) ensures excellent job prospects upon graduation.
With DePaul’s master’s degree in Physical Education, you can earn your MEd while preparing for licensure. The program can be completed in two years and includes student teaching at the elementary and secondary levels during your last quarter. First-year classes will primarily be online; second-year courses will be in person on the Lincoln Park Campus during the day.

“I was able to take advantage of the one-year fast-track option through the Chicago Teacher Residency program. It’s a great option for anyone looking to teach in Chicago Public Schools or any school in Illinois.
