Educational Leadership - Teacher Leader Program Admission Requirements

Admission Eligibility

DePaul has three program options for the Teacher Leader program: an Educational Leadership master's degree with Teacher Leader endorsement, or a program that leads to the Teacher Leader endorsement only.

To be eligible to enroll in either of the master's degree programs, students must hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, have two years of full-time teaching experience and hold a valid standard teaching license.

To be eligible to enroll in the Teacher Leader Endorsement program, students must have earned a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in education, have three years of full-time teaching experience and hold a valid standard Illinois teaching license.

Application Requirements

A complete application to one of these programs will include the following materials:

  • Graduate admission application
  • $40 domestic application fee, $75 international application fee
  • Official transcripts from all colleges or universities attended
  • Résumé showing evidence of adequate background for the program
  • Two letters of recommendation from professors or work supervisors
  • Personal statement indicating professional development goals and related experience for leadership
  • Copy of a valid Illinois teaching license

Applicants who have earned a degree outside of the U.S. or who will be considered international students must submit additional materials. Visit our International Students page for more information.

Applicants can upload supplemental application materials, send requests for letters of recommendation, and pay the application fee through our online application system.

Application Deadlines

The Educational Leadership - Teacher Leader master's degree program, the Curriculum Studies - Teacher Leader master's degree program, and the Teacher Leader Endorsement program admit new students every quarter: fall, winter, spring, and summer. They offer rolling admission, but regular deadlines are set to assure students full consideration for admission and financial aid. These programs will continue to accept and process applications after the regular deadline if space is available.
