Teaching in Other States
Thinking of moving to another state after you become a teacher?
You'll need to write for information about becoming certified in that state as well as apply to individual schools/districts for positions. Check the colleges and universities in the area as well; they might publish a vacancy bulletin you can subscribe to, or even put vacancies online.
Search for Public Schools, a searchable database of schools and districts in the US.

Peterson's Education and Career Center: provides a searchable database of over 1,400 private US high schools
Web 66: if a school/district has a web page, it's probably listed here.
Certification Requirements by State
The Praxis Series. Many states use these tests for certification of teachers.
Salary Calculator, a nifty little device which allows you to calculate the salary you would need to make in a new city, based on cost-of-living differences. a good average starting salary for teachers here in the Chicago area would be $27,000.
Teacher Salary Resources of the American Federation of Teachers
Here are the websites of the Departments of Education in each state. Some of them have certification information, information about schools, and even job vacancies. You'll want to contact them before you move to request an application for a certificate.
