so that they can learn with understanding. Uses exemplary curriculum materials.
Summer I , 2004 (June 14 - July 14)
CS 409 -- Quantitative Reasoning for Teachers
Mondays and Wednesdays, 5:30-8:30 PM
An introduction to quantitative reasoning using exemplary middle school
materials and a variety of appropriate technology.
Autumn, 2004 (September 8 - November 17)
CS 452 -- Teaching, Learning and Assessing Middle School
Mathematics II
Wednesdays, 5:30-8:30 PM
An exploration of how to teach mathematics for all middle school students
so that they can learn with understanding. Uses exemplary curriculum materials
and includes lesson study. [Prere-quisite: CS 451 or the equivalent.]
CS 408 -- Number Systems for Middle School Teachers
Wednesdays, 5:30-8:30
An investigation of topics in number theory and the foundations of
the real number system
Winter, 2005 (January 5 - March 16)
CS 414 -- Foundations of Mathematics: The Real Numbers
Wednesdays, 5:30-8:30
An exploration of number patterns and concepts underlying whole numbers,
integers, rational and irrational numbers. Uses a variety of embodiments.
CS 413 -- Foundations of Mathematics: Geometry
Wednesdays, 5:30-8:30 PM
An introduction to geometry designed to engage students in the construction,
description, and analysis of geometric objects.

CS 587 -- Participant Research in Schools: Mathematics

A seminar to help teachers conduct research which focuses on action
research multicultural education, teaching for diversity, and mathematics
education.
CS 458 -- Restructuring Mathematics Education in Schools -- TBA
A seminar designed to move teachers beyond their own classrooms and
to become advocates for reform of mathematics education.
