M.A. or M.Ed, Educational Leadership

The major purpose of the Educational Leadership program is to prepare educational personnel for administrative and supervisory positions in schools, and a variety of human service agencies. Our programs are:
DISCIPLINE-BASED: concepts, research findings, and models of inquiry in social sciences;
THEORY-BASED: relevant theories of organization, leadership and curriculum;
PROBLEM-BASED: contemporary issues and problems likely to confront administrators and supervisors;
CAREER-BASED: examination of administrative and supervisory functions and objectives within a variety of settings and for different purposes.
Concentrations
For course and degree requirements, choose a concentration:
Illinois Administrative Certificate
Students holding valid Illinois teaching certificates with two years successful teaching or other pupil personnel experience may be eligible for the Illinois Administrative Certificate upon completion of the program.

NOTE: If you currently have a Master's degree or are currently a student in another master's program in the school of Education and would like to complete requirements towards a Type 75 certification, it is still necessary to apply to the Educational Leadership program as a non-degree seeking candidate.
Campus Locations
The Administration and Supervision concentration is currently offered at DePaul's Lincoln Park and O'Hare,
Admission Requirements
  • A completed School of Education graduate application
  • A bachelor's degree conferred by an accredited, recognized institution
  • A previous grade point average of 2.75 or above on a 4.0 scale
  • Two years of successful teaching or other appropriate work experience
  • Two letters of recommendation from professors or supervisors
  • One official transcript from each college or university attended
  • Resume
  • Personal Statement
  • On-site writing sample (applicant will be contacted after application is complete)
  • Evidence of adequate background for the program
