Academic Advising

Academic advisors are available for consultation throughout your academic career. There are many resources and tools available through this website to guide your academic success.  You can meet with an academic advisor at any point in your academic career. We strongly encourage new students to meet with an academic advisor in their first quarter to develop an academic plan. 

Academic advisors can assist you with progression toward degree completion, degree and certification requirements, navigating the university, course selection and registration issues, exploring teaching areas and endorsements, explaining requirements for Advanced Standing, and many other aspects of your program.  All advisors are assigned by major/program (see listing below).

Walk-In Registration Advising for Fall 2009

Advisors are available for walk-in advising without an appointment only during select weeks during the quarter.  Walk-in advising is available the first week of classes and registration week for the upcoming term.  We ask that you limit your questions during walk-in advising to registration issues regarding that term and schedule an appointment for more extensive questions. 

The schedule for walk-in advising for Fall 2009 will be:

Monday, Oct 19th -10:00am to 12:30pm and 2:00pm to 6:00pm
Tuesday, Oct 20th - 10:00am to 12:30pm and 2:00pm to 6:00pm
Wednesday, Oct 21st- 10:00am to 12:30pm and 2:00pm to 6:00pm
Thursday, Oct 22nd - 10:00am to 12:30pm and 2:00pm to 6:00pm
Friday, Oct 23rd - 10:00am to 12:30pm and 2:00pm to 5:00pm

Advising Appointments

To schedule an appointment, please use our new online tool through Campus Connection.  The online system allows you to view the selected times the advisor is available and reserve an appointment.  To schedule, simply click on the Advising Center tab in Campus Connection, find your SOE Professional Staff Advisor, click on the calendar icon, and reserve a time.  For a visual reference, please see the Advising Appointments Get The Facts flyer.

Our office is open Monday through Thursday from 9am to 6pm and Fridays from 9am to 5pm. Advisors are available for appointments at scheduled times between iam and 6pm, however, we recommend consulting the appointment schedule available on the Advising Center as not all advisors are available on all days and times.
