ESL Endorsement

In just one year, you can complete the coursework to earn an official endorsement as a K-12 Bilingual and/or English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher. These endorsements are offered to educators who hold a Type 03, Type 04, Type 09, and/or Type 29 certificate.

The Bilingual Endorsement (BE) would allow you to teach in both bilingual and ESL settings, while the ESL endorsement would allow you to teach in ESL settings only.

Why is DePaul’s program special?

Students completing the endorsement gain skills in designing instruction, evaluating and designing educational materials, and assessing the language development of English learners. In Chicago and elsewhere, the need for these skills grows each year.
