Who is my academic advisor?

Academic advisors are assigned to specific programs. You can consult the Academic Advising page on the COE website to learn who the academic advisor is for your program.

How do I see my academic advisor?

The Advising Office is located in the Schmitt Academic Center (SAC) suite 481. For more information about scheduling an appointment, please consult the following form.

How do I contact my instructor?

There a couple different ways to reach your instructor. First, instructors list their contact information on the course syllabi (phone, email, office hours). Second, you may contact the department assistant to help you reach your instructor.

Where can I get help to prepare for the Test of Academic Proficiency (TAP)?

The Academic Success Center offers workshops, study guides, and tutoring services to help current students and alumni prepare for the TAP. The Illinois Certification Testing System (ICTS) also has study guides for all certification tests listed on its website.

What is Advanced Standing and when do I need it?

At DePaul you are admitted to the College of Education as a pre-teacher candidate, and you progress to an advanced standing candidate. The advanced standing requirement applies to any student seeking teacher certification. To qualify, you must meet specific requirements, and these differ slightly for undergraduate and graduate students. Check the COE website for more details or the Get The Facts form on Advanced Standing.

How many credits do I need to take to be considered a full-time student?

DePaul considers undergraduate students who are enrolled in 12 credit hours per quarter a full-time student, while graduate students must be enrolled in 8 credit hours per quarter. However, Financial Aid may have additional requirements, therefore, please consult DePaul Central about your specific situation.

Where can I find course descriptions for current and past academic years?

DePaul University’s course catalogs are available on the website and contain archives of catalogs as far back as 1966. You can click on the course description link once you locate the academic year you are seeking.

The class I need is closed. Can I get on a wait-list?

If a class is full, but has a wait-list, you can add yourself to the waitlist and as seats open up, students on the waitlist will be automatically enrolled. When you add yourself to the waitlist, you are given a position number. Students are enrolled in open seats based on their position number. The lower the number, the higher your priority. Refer to the Get The Facts form on the Wait List Policy for more details.

How do I enroll in EDU 025?

To enroll in EDU 025, log onto Campus Connection and click on “For Students.” Select “Records and Registration” then “Enroll: Add/Drop.” Find the class by clicking on the green search button. Make sure the course career is set to “Undergraduate” in the class search criteria, then click on the green search button again. EDU 025 is located in “Education – General” under the Education column.

Will my credits from a previous institution transfer to DePaul?

Undergraduate Students:
Prospective undergraduates can consult the transfer guides available online. Enter the school and then search each area to determine the DePaul equivalent course.

Graduate Students:
All COE graduate students can transfer up to 9-quarter hours (approximately 2 courses) from another college or university as credit toward their Master's or Doctoral degree requirements per the approval of the Department Chair or Program director. All other courses must be DePaul coursework. Under no circumstances can a course taken at DePaul University or at any other college or university fulfill degree requirements in more than one degree program. A course can only be counted as fulfilling the degree requirements of one degree program.
