Scholarships


The School of Education invites interested students to apply for any of the scholarships listed below. Scholarship applications are accepted between October 15 and December 31 each year. Awardees receive recognition at a university wide scholarship luncheon each spring quarter. Scholarship monies are for the year following application.
Undergraduate Scholarships:
The Elsie Luhan Scholarship:
The Elsie Luhan Scholarship is awarded to a student enrolled in the School of Education with financial need who demonstrates promise as a secondary education mathematics teacher. Only undergraduate students are eligible to apply.
The Northern Trust Scholarship:
The Northern Trust Scholarship is awarded to students in the School of Education with demonstrated financial need, academic promise, community and educational service, and clear professional goals in the field of education. Only undergraduate students are eligible to apply.
The Stack Endowed Scholarship:
The Stack Endowed Scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate student enrolled in the School of Education with a GPA of 3.0 or better with financial need. Preference is given to graduates of the Chicago Public Schools.
Graduate Scholarships:
The Linsey Scholarship:
The Lindsey Scholarship supports a student enrolled in the School of Education who is currently teaching in the Chicago Public Schools. Only graduate students are eligible to apply.
The Eleanor McHugh Scholarship:
The Eleanor McHugh Scholarship supports a student in the School of Education with demonstrated financial need, academic promise, community and educational service, and clear professional goals in the field of education. Only graduate students are eligible to apply.
The Dr. Richard J. Meister Carlson Endowed Scholarship in Education:
The Dr. Richard J. Meister Carlson Endowed Scholarship in Education supports a student participating in the Glenview Program with demonstrated financial need. Only graduate students in the Glenview Program are eligible to apply.
The Emily V. Zeman Fellowship:
The Emily V. Zeman Fellowship is awarded to a graduate student with demonstrated financial need who is currently teaching in either the Archdiocese of Chicago or in the Chicago Public Schools.
Undergraduate and Graduate Scholarships:
The Delila Mae Stewart Scholarship:
The Delila Mae Stewart Scholarship supports an African-American student with the following qualifications: GPA in the top 20% of their high school class (sophomore standing or below) or has made the Dean's List (pertains to undergraduate students only), exemplifies the conceptual model of the School of Education in their commitment to serving the multicultural, urban community, has overcome obstacles and hardship, and has demonstrated financial need. Both undergraduate and graduate students are eligible to apply.
The Rafaela Weffer Scholarship:
The Rafaela Weffer Scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate or graduate student who is enrolled in the School of Education. The student must be fluent in Spanish or another foreign language, have experience and/or interest in working in a school with a need for bilingual teachers, and demonstrate financial need.
